{"id":570,"date":"2025-06-04T15:05:47","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T07:05:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.great-strong.com\/?p=570"},"modified":"2025-06-04T16:25:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T08:25:04","slug":"apple-sales-in-china-plunge-50-huawei-back-on-top-fortune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.great-strong.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/04\/apple-sales-in-china-plunge-50-huawei-back-on-top-fortune\/","title":{"rendered":"Apple Sales in China Plunge 50%, Huawei Back on Top \u2013 Fortune"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sales of American smartphone giant Apple plunged nearly 50% in China as the iPhone-maker faced increasing competition from domestic players \u2014 most notably, Huawei \u2014 according to a report by Fortune India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"710\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.great-strong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/rei-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-578\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.great-strong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/rei-2.jpg 710w, https:\/\/www.great-strong.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/rei-2-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 710px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple\u2019s shipments sank to 1.89 million units, down from 3.75 million one year ago, translating to a 49.6% drop&nbsp;in sales, <strong>the Forbes report said<\/strong>, citing data from think-tank China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foreign-branded smartphones now account for just 8% of China\u2019s smartphone market \u2014 the largest in the world, the report added. That is half of their 16% share a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, US-sanctioned smartphone maker Huawei, which, for years, had been teetering on the edge of collapse, managed to regain its dominant position in the market, accounting for more than 19% of its share. That\u2019s an outcome that analysts had been predicting <strong>since last year<\/strong>, on the back of Huawei launching its Mate 60 and Mate 70 smartphone series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sales of those devices had been so strong that they managed to <strong>spark a turnaround<\/strong> in the Chinese smartphone market in 2023 after several quarters of slowdown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huawei\u2019s role in developing China\u2019s first homegrown advanced semiconductor, with state-backed chipmaker Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), has played a key role in charting the smartphone maker\u2019s return to the market.
